Today officially starts the trek home. That being said… this (or any) Beryl adventure is never about the destination, it’s about the journey. {insert sounds of nauseating gagging at the revolting cliche} - For a girl who’s always been about the destination, it feels freaking amazing to be living an adventurous journey because that truly is where the magic lies - Especially when living it in the guts of an ugly orange school bus.
Albury being the halfway mark just happens to be the spot I got to hang out with a friend & a small part of my family. (And the place, for some yet to be determined reason, I love the most on my travels).
Hazel & I went for a little walk along the river before the boys woke up. Upon our return the boys arose & we headed off to the same spot as yesterday so the boys could go for another cold plunge. I decided I’d give it a miss today, avoid the full body wetness & get my dishes done instead
This is where we said goodbye to Uncle Dean with the biggest longest warmest hug ever. (Theres something about a Dean hug that hits me in the heart. 🧡)
Hunter & I then convoyed up to Fern Hill where I’ll be spending the next 3 nights camping on a friends property. The drive was mostly on the motorway but the last hour was on beautiful windy backroads which I love. The motorways are practical but oh so boring.
Quick hugs with my friend Emily & her husband Dom (along with their 2 boys) before Hunter & I headed out to Daylesford for a bite to eat & a wander up the street.
Dropping me back to Em’s, Hunter & I said our goodbyes (surprisingly no tears from me - knowing he’ll be heading west in November definitely helped 😉), I set Beryl up (yay for having power to plug into - pure luxury), checked out Dom’s current fire pit master piece WIP, had a catch up with Em & took Hazel for a walk up the lane where she got introduced to the zap of an electric fence 😬
I was invited in to share a meal of silverside, cooked by Dom, to which I gratefully accepted & have now retired back to the bus. I’m feeling tired and grateful for the connection & love of the past few days.
Today also saw me get to the end of my 14hr Kylea relives her 90’s/90’s/naughtiest prime playlist. (It’s the first one I’ve gotten to the end of & I’ve been travelling for 16 days.)
Tomorrow is going to be a full work day & Ive gotta tell you, there’s worse places to be parked to work in 🧡
