Grateful is an understatement but I’m definitely sitting in immense gratitude to Em & Dom for welcoming me & Hazel onto their land & into their lives.
Yesterday started early with Hazels regular waking before the suns up determined that I need to get out of bed & open the door so she can stand there, look out & decide ‘Fuck that… it’s too dark & cold, I’m staying inside’ routine 🙄 From there she’s generally happy to gaze out the window from the bed & watch the world awaken.
Once the sun was up (despite being hidden behind clouds & mist) we wandered up the lane (Hazel much more willing to stick to the track after Sundays electrocution) before I had a shower & then settled in for a day of work.
Em & I enjoyed a late arvo cuppa, chat & mini kitchen dance party while Hazel kept watch over the Lego. And then it was dinner, a wander up the lane in the dark & dancing under the stars before bed.
I’m not sure what I was dreaming about last night but I woke at 3am feeling very disoriented, thinking I was parked on the side of the road somewhere & got out of bed to make sure the isolator switch was flicked. It took a second to remember I was still safely parked at Em’s place & the isolator switch had been flicked for a couple of days now 🤪
At the much more reasonable hour of 6.30am we woke to a stunning sunrise, made a coffee & went for a walk up the lane before heading back for a pre-workout workout involving unstringing 40 metres of fairy lights. Whilst the usb ports stopped working early on in the trip, the lights themselves still worked - until over the course of the past week I’ve managed to break them in three different places. So while some don’t understand the importance of said fairy lights (I challenge those crazy fuckers to spend a magical night under them & still question their travel vibe significance), I’ve ordered myself some new strands (which will be waiting for me upon my return) but for now I won’t have to navigate the normally essential lighting while opening & closing my curtains.
I joined Em in the shed for a workout where Em was introduced to the extra challenge of working out with Hazel 🤪 (she got delegated back to the bus - Hazel, not Em) It was good to move my body & extra fun to finish our workout by busting out some moves to Shaboozeys ‘A bar song’
After the not so amazing weather of the past couple of days, it was good to sit out in the sunshine & enjoy a cuppa (Miss Hazel claiming her throne) before heading off to the library where Em & I sat in the sunny corner reading while the boys played Lego. A quick stop at the bakery where the boys chose a donut each, a trip to the supermarket & then home for lunch & more dancing in the sun.
A visit to Trentham Falls (the highest single drop of any waterfall in Central Victoria) was had with 83 steps counted to get down to the viewing platform. Why count them??? Why not?
The day finished with another walk down the lane, checking of Em’s roadside egg shop supply, dinner under the patio fairy lights & a wood run.
It’s been a bloody brilliant couple of days soaking up not only this beautiful location but also all the love, fun & connection with my friend 🥰
Tomorrow we continue making our way home West. Let the journey continue!
