We had a slightly unsettled night last night. There were a number of other campers at the site & a couple of dogs which had Hazel on alert all night 🤪
Woke to a beautiful but COLD sunrise (1.6 degrees that felt like -2.3) & was grateful for the gloves I was gifted by a Victorian friend last year who knew this non-beanie & glove wearer would indeed be converted. They were only needed while outside though because Beryl is toastie AF with the diesel heater keeping us cozy inside.
I made the decision that instead of making the 250km trek to Mildura, I’d make my way to Renmark instead (which was only 100kms away)
Travelling at around 80kms per hour, the overtaking lane gods were kind allowing traffic to pass easily. I did however end up with a couple of huge trucks riding my arse tightly. I totally appreciate how annoying it would’ve been (I would’ve wanted to ride my own my arse too if I was stuck behind myself) but it left me no room to slow down if I did manage to find a spot to pull over & let them pass & even worse, if the tyre had blown I would’ve be completely f#cked. But it didn’t & WE MADE IT!!!!
I got rather excited to spot a Woolworths whilst driving thru Waikerie so pulled in to grab some supplies. (This felt like serious civilisation compared to the dodgey IGA’s & Foodlands of the bunky little towns we’ve passed so far)
Pulling into the car park I had a lady let me know one of my brake lights wasn’t working - Of course it f#cking wasn’t 🙄 It’s all become borderline comical now 🤪
I restocked the fridge, popped into the gourmet butcher & picked up some fancy meat, discovered a new Lindt dark choc flavour (Salty liquorice - bloody delicious) & after being let down by the servos, went against my better judgement, grabbed a 4 pack of Maxibons & proved the point I made to my sister that I can’t buy 4 packs because I’ll eat them all in one day - And proceeded to eat them all in one day 🤪😂
We made a quick stop to check out some more silo art & then continued our journey past orchards & vineyards with Poor Mans Poison cranking.
Upon arriving safe & sound at the RV campground in Renmark, I had a good ole chinwag with a dude parked up waiting for someone after he helped guide me as I reversed into my spot. I then set up my solar & starlink & smashed a heap of work out so I’m free to focus on getting Beryl sorted tomorrow.
Hazel & I headed off for a walk around the block, saying hi to the alpaca & dinosaur over the back fence before having some dinner (my fancy lamb koftas from the fancy butcher), having a FaceTime with my granddaughter & big son & then getting some crochet in.
Looking forward to getting this tyre sorted tomorrow & hoping for NO MORE BLOODY DRAMAS!!!
