‘West to East Adventure 2024’ - Kimba to Fullerville

I’ve had my first REAL shower, have clean hair (man it was dusty ) & now feel fresh AF 😁

Fell asleep watching Netflix, which felt like luxury after being conscious of battery levels for 5 nights, & enjoyed another good nights sleep.

Having received a message from a friend yesterday saying “I’m {insert address here} Come stay” I checked said address on the map & it turned out to be the perfect distance & exactly on my route so tonight’s camp spot was decided on.

After catching up with my sister & a friend on the phone, I got a couple of hours work done before hitting the road to Port Augusta to catch up with an ex sister in law. (Having randomly bumped into her on my trip last year after not seeing her for about 20 years it was nice to reconnect.) I was also reminded how different my energy is this time around. Last years trip

was fueled on some fairly high emotion after a very fresh relationship breakdown & I think she was pleased to see me rock up with smiles instead of breaking down in tears like I did last year. 🤪😂

Coaster Karaoke today was Kylea’s Faves a mixed bag of whatevers taken my fancy over the years. My poor ole voice box is feeling a little ‘Janis Joplin’ at the moment with all the banger belting & dust it’s been subjected to 🤪

Something I’ve noted is how passionate the South Australians are about their footy teams. Water tanks all over the state are painted with declarations of victory. Footy pride!

The views over the ranges driving into Port Augusta is pretty cool too. (Although everyone will tell you to keep on driving thru the town itself)

After our catch-up we made the drive out the other side of town, past the Windmill Farms & over the ranges through Horrocks Pass. Thankfully the speed limit was perfectly set to Beryls max speed of ‘fucking slow’ so I didn’t feel like I was holding anyone up as we climbed & winded our way to the other side.

Making a stop at Melrose, we went for a walk across the swing bridge (Hazel getting half way across & freaking out, deciding she’d really rather go back. After a bit of negotiation I managed to convince her that going forward was the exact same distance as going back & we got to the other side - we were able to take another path on our return trip) & made the short hike up to a lookout.

Popped into the local cafe to pick up some afternoon treats to take to our hosts & then made our way to Fullerville.

What a treat to be welcomed to my friend Abby’s mums property where Abby’s currently parked up in her own big rig. (Bus babes unite)

Bev (Abby’s mum) lives in a gorgeous old church, has the most divine smelling art & yoga studio ‘The Soul Centre’ and a labyrinth in the yard. Hazel has had the best time exploring the yard & getting cuddles on the outside couch.

Enjoyed a yummy home cooked chicken dinner before making our way back to Beryl for our 7th night on the road.

Compared to the past couple of days it’s been nice to have some smooth sailing for which my nervous system is grateful for. 🤪😂🧡
