Today started like any normal day - said no traveller ever 😂
Actually it didn't start too bad. Up early but looking a bit rough, I got to christen my pretty pink mini fringe straighter & headed out for a chilly walk before tackling the day. And what a day it was.
Off to the tyre shop as planned, getting there right on opening, a couple of hours to wander round town, grab a couple of supplies (including a couple of tap fittings to replace the one I left in Kimba - figured I’d grab 2 because chances are dickheadery will probably strike again), have a dirty chai & hedgehog slice & we’ll be back on the road. Or so we thought 🙄
Upon returning to the tyre shop I’m informed by Jake (my rubber ring hero) the cause of the dodgey tyre is a slight bearing issue which I should get looked at as soon as I can.
OK…. Let’s get that sorted NOW!
Jake proceeds to contact every mechanic in town to be told no one can look at it within the next week or two 😳
Okey dokes… I’m heading for Albury, let’s try there. At least a dozen phone calls later (with me suggesting maybe I’ll start phoning around Mildura to which Jake indicated would be a waste of time) we have no luck & Jake apologetically says he’s gonna have to leave me to keep making phone calls as he has to get back to work (which I totally understood - he’d already gone above & beyond)
Deep breaths… I pay for my new bus shoes & drive to the foreshore where I’d make some phone calls & come up with a plan.
Next town is Mildura so let’s start there (as per my previous suggestion).
First phone call, Hardos Mechanical (third on the list in Google) & I struck GOLD!!!!
Explaining my predicament, Aaron was a bloody legend & said get in here & we’ll sort you out. Obviously not sure whether we’d need to order parts overnight or not, at least I had someone to look at it. Huge relief.
We make the 163km trek to Mildura (cranking Kylea’s gone a bit country playlist & adding to the maxibon tally), roll into Hardos, Aarons boys jack Beryl up, discover it’s nothing major for now (although something to get sorted when I get home) & have it sorted within the hour. They did however discover the inflator valve was sitting in a dodgey position & should get that looked at straight away.
Sooooooo off to the tyre shop we go AGAIN!!!!
Apparently a very unusual thing to happen & took four blokes to figure out but eventually I was on my way.
Whilst at Hardos I’d organised myself a place to camp but before I headed out there I took Hazel for a walk along the river & allowed myself a moment to settle my now frazzled nervous system. I’m not sure it entirely worked 🤪😂
Arriving at my campsite, I was greeted by my host who, to be honest, is a bit strange 😬 I’ve done very little ‘settling in’ tonight so I can make a quick getaway in the morning.
I’ve decided THIS IS ENOUGH NOW UNIVERSE!!!
It WILL be smooth sailing from here on in!!!
I did however open instagram this arvo to the most beautiful testimonial from a client which absolutely lifted my spirits (You can check it out here) and I’ve got a massage to look forward to with Anna Houston on Friday & boy do I need it.
I officially feel like a REAL traveller 😂 and I still LOVE IT!!!
